Abru has a broad practice involving family, immigration, and civil litigation.
Abru is a family law specialist in all areas of private and public law with a particular emphasis on children work. Her attention to detail and composed approach to clients has resulted in her practice continually expanding.
Abru acts for parents in children cases involving non-accidental injury, neglect and domestic abuse, parental mental health, concerns around substance abuse and involving children with special education and disabilities/complex medical needs. Abru is instructed in care proceedings in London, Coventry, Bristol, Manchester and Worcester.
Abru frequently appears on behalf of parents for child arrangements orders under the Children Act 1989, from making, varying or enforcing child arrangement orders. Abru also acts in cases involving an international element including jurisdictional disputes and leave to permanently remove from the jurisdiction and international abduction.
Abru has a wide range of experience in applications for ancillary relief proceedings and is often instructed in contested divorce proceedings too.
Abru acts for appellants in immigration and asylum hearings in the First-Tier Tribunals and Upper Tribunal. She has experience in all aspects of immigration law including, JR, asylum, human rights, EU law, British Citizenship, entry clearance, deportation, bail applications, student visas and business visas. She also undertakes drafting work at all levels including the Court of Appeal.
Abru has a small civil practice, welcoming instructions on landlord and tenant matters. She appears in county courts for interim and final hearings in small claims matters involving contractual disputes and personal injury.
Abru has extensive experience of dealing with cases under the direct public access scheme.
