Abru has a broad practice involving immigration, civil litigation, family and crime.
Abru frequently acts for appellants in immigration and asylum hearings in the First-tier Tribunals and Upper Tribunal. She has experience in all aspects of immigration law, including asylum, human rights, EU Law, British citizenship, entry clearance, deportation, bail applications, student visas and business visas.
Abru often prosecutes in the magistrates courts dealing with vulnerable witnesses. She has experience of dealing with most areas of general crime, including common assault, theft, domestic violence, criminal damage, dangerous driving, drink-driving, possession/supply of drugs, offensive weapons and all public order offences. She also accepts some defence work in relation to road traffic matters.
Abru welcomes instructions on a wide range of civil matters having dealt with PI cases, contractual disputes, infant settlements, debt recovery, bankruptcy, landlord and tenant matters and applications to set aside strike out applications. She is regularly instructed by solicitors for claimants/defendants and also appears in county courts for interim and final hearings in small claims matters. She has an interest in developing her civil practice with particular emphasis on personal injury.
She is appointed in mostly private family law matters, representing parents in fact-finding hearings, obtaining/contesting non-molestation orders, contact and residential disputes. She also welcomes instructions to appear in interim and final hearings.
